Juan Ortega and Roca Rey connect with the Malaga culture in the prelude to the Corrida Picassiana

The bullfighters visit CEIT and the Ruta Picassiana in Malaga to deepen the relationship between bullfighting, art and tradition.

Bullfighters Juan Ortega and Andrés Roca Rey have recently made significant visits to the city of Malaga, exploring different facets of its cultural and bullfighting heritage in preparation for the expected Corrida Picassiana to be held on April 19 at the Plaza de Toros de La Malagueta.

Juan Ortega at the Center for Immersive Experiences of Bullfighting (CEIT)

Juan Ortega was the first bullfighter to officially visit the CEIT, located in the surroundings of the bullring in Malaga. This innovative space offers a unique experience that combines artificial intelligence, videomapping, augmented reality and surround sound with a collection of more than 350 pieces related to the art of bullfighting.

During his tour, Ortega explored the different rooms of the center, from immersive projections that narrate the historical evolution of bullfighting, to showcases with emblematic bullfighting costumes and an interactive experience that allows visitors to symbolically place themselves “in the skin of the bullfighter”.

These types of spaces help to preserve and transmit our tradition in an innovative and exciting way. It is a magnificent tool to bring bullfighting closer to all audiences, said the bullfighter after his visit.

Roca Rey and the Ruta Picassiana

For his part, Andrés Roca Rey led a cultural tour of the key places in the life of Pablo Picasso in Malaga. Organized by Lances de Futuro with the collaboration of the City Council, the visit included stops at the painter’s Birthplace Museum, the Plaza de la Merced and the Church of Santiago, where he was baptized.

The Peruvian bullfighter was deeply interested in the life and work of the Malaga-born artist, underlining the influence that bullfighting had on his creative process. “It is exciting to discover how the art of bullfighting marked the work of one of the greatest geniuses of the 20th century,” said Roca Rey.

Culture, art and tradition, united in the Corrida Picassiana

These actions reinforce the link between bullfighting and the cultural offer of Malaga, consolidating the Corrida Picassiana as an event that goes beyond the bullring, becoming a living tribute to the fusion between art and tradition.

Both visits reflect the commitment of the bullfighters to the city and its heritage, and serve as a prelude to one of the most unique and symbolic celebrations of the national bullfighting calendar.
