Immersive Permanent Exhibition

In the heart of La Malagueta, an emblematic bullring with more than a century of history, the Immersive Center invites you to live a unique experience.
Our 6 Immersive Rooms combine the richness of the past with the technology of the present, offering you an innovative way to explore bullfighting through history, art and emotion.

The Origins of Bullfighting

  • This room takes you back to the very beginnings of the fascinating relationship between men and bulls, from ancient civilizations to the first religious cults. Visitors can explore the symbolism of the bull in cultures as diverse as Iberian, Roman and Egyptian.
  • For instance, the figure of the figure of the bull-god Apis, which was one of the most important sacred animals in Ancient Egypt, worshipped as a symbol of fertility and connection with the divine. In the city of Memphis, this bull received daily offerings in the temple of Ptah and, when he died, he was paid a special tribute: he was embalmed and buried with great care in the Serapeum of Saqqara, a necropolis built for sacred bulls. This bull cult represented abundance and power, and deeply marked Egyptian culture, leaving a mark that continues to fascinate to this day.

Knightly Bullfighting

Enter the world of bullfighting on horseback, a tradition that was born as military training for the nobility and soon became a demonstration of skill and courage in front of the bull.

  • In this room you will discover key elements such as swords, “rejones” and ancient costumes, which show how the knights practiced these skills in the bullrings, combining technique, spectacle and courage. Each exhibit tells a story that helped forge the foundations of bullfighting today.
  • The heart of this room is the Royal Decree of Philip II, an historical document that marked the beginning of the knightly brotherhoods and that was key to the creation of the Royal Cavalry of Ronda in 1573. Thanks to this text, Ronda’s noble cavalry laid the foundations of a legacy that turned the equestrian tradition into an art that endures to this day.

Contemporary Bullfighting

The actual type of Bullfighting, which is on foot, is a spectacle where art and bravery converge. In this room, visitors can explore the evolution of this practice and its impact on the visual arts.

  • On display are works that reinterpret the world of bullfighting through the eyes of great artists. The jewel of the room is the series of lithographs “Corrida” from Rafael Alberti. These pieces, created in 1970, reflect the dynamism, passion and poetry that Alberti found in bullfighting. Each stroke and colour in these lithographs captures the essence of the ring, inviting the visitor to experience the emotion and beauty of bullfighting from a unique perspective.

The Suit of Lights

The suit of lights, as is named the bullfighter costume, is much more than a uniform: it is a work of art that combines tradition and creativity. In this room, visitors will be able to explore the details behind these unique outfits, from the embroidery to the materials carefully selected for each design.

  • The centerpiece is the costume that the famous Malaga bullfighter Javier Conde wore during the Picassian Bullfight in 2010, designed by the renowned french fashion designer Christian Lacroix. This suit stands out for its impressive black embroideryies that cover almost the entire surface, revealing the intricate hand-painted details, as if it were a canvas. This craftsmanship achieves a visual effect that evokes the pictorial style of Pablo Picasso, paying homage to the Malaga artist in his own bullring. This dress is a clear example of how fashion and bullfighting can come together to create an amazing work of art.

The Fighting Bull

Immerse yourself in the life of the fighting bull in its natural environment, the pasture or dehesa: a unique space where tradition and nature intertwine.

  • This room connects visitors directly with the landscapes of the countryside, recreating the dehesa through panoramic projections and surrounding sounds that will transport you to a ranch of fighting bulls.  Here you can observe how the bulls live in freedom in an ecosystem carefully maintained by generations of ranchers.
  • In addition to exploring the relationship between the bull, its environment and livestock culture, this space highlights the important ecological benefits associated with bullfighting. The cattle ranches of the “campo bravo” are the lungs of the Iberian Peninsula, where the biodiversity of native species is preserved in a natural balance that contributes to the care of the environment. An experience to reflect on the role of the bull as a cultural symbol and as an integral part of a unique ecosystem in Europe.
  • Finally, you can enjoy the interactive screen and create your own Fighting Bull, a unique experience!

Let’s go to the Toros!
