La Malagueta kicks off with bullfighting celebrities

 

Last Thursday, March 27th, thebullring La Malagueta in Malaga was the scene of an outstanding event in the bullfighting and cultural field. The renowned matadors Juan Ortega and Roca Rey visited the Centro deExperiencias Inmersivas de la Tauromaquia (CEIT), a space dedicated to the dissemination and preservation of the rich bullfighting tradition of the region.

During their visit, the bullfighters toured the CEIT facilities, where they were able to see interactive exhibits and multimedia content that narrate the history and evolution of bullfighting in Malaga and Spain. This initiative is part of the commemorative activities for the 150th anniversary of La Malagueta, an event that will be celebrated in 2026 and that has already begun to be honored with various cultural and bullfighting events. 

One of the most anticipated events in this context is the Corrida Picassiana, scheduled for April 19, 2010.on April 19, 2010.. This celebration will feature the participation of Juan Ortega and Roca Rey, as well as the bullfighter Saúl Jiménez Fortes from Málaga. The three will fight bulls from the Álvaro Núñez ranch in a bullfight that promises to be memorable. The bullring will have a special decoration inspired by the different periods of Pablo Picasso, work of the painter Pablo Alonso Herráiz, who also designed the official poster for the event. This scenography will include elements that recall the origins of La Malagueta, such as the stripes of the bullring painted red and the ornamentation of the boxes with garlands, flags and manila shawls.

The visit of Juan Ortega and Roca Rey to CEIT underlines the importance of fusing tradition and modernity in bullfighting, bringing this cultural manifestation closer to new generations and reaffirming its relevance in the contemporary cultural panorama.
