A place to understand bullfighting from its beginnings to the present day.
The creation of the Malagueta Tour (Immersive Exhibition Center of Bullfighting) arose as an initiative of the Provincial Council of Malaga in collaboration with the Malaga company Toroshopping. The main objective was to revitalize and give a new cultural use to the historic bullring of La Malagueta, which will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2026. This project is part of the efforts to preserve and promote bullfighting as an integral part of Andalusia’s cultural heritage.
The museum of the Malagueta bullring is distributed in several thematic rooms that provide an immersive and multisensory experience:
History and Origins of Bullfighting: This room presents archaeological remains and heritage pieces that illustrate the evolution of bullfighting since ancient times. It includes recreations of cave paintings found in the Ardales Cave and an interactive tactile map showing the various bullfighting events throughout history.
Bullfighting on Horse: Dedicated to the practice of rejoneo, this room has explanatory videos and exhibits a jacket belonging to Álvaro Domecq, an emblematic figure of equestrian bullfighting.
Bullfighting and Art: Here the influence of bullfighting on art is explored, with highlights such as lithographs by Rafael Alberti and references to artists such as Pablo Picasso and Jean Cocteau, highlighting the connection between bullfighting and various artistic expressions.
The thirds of the fight: This section delves into the different phases of the bullfight, exhibiting bullfighting costumes of renowned bullfighters from Malaga such as Antonio Ordóñez and Javier Conde, as well as other significant elements of bullfighting attire.
The Fighting Bull: Through olfactory marketing techniques and ambience, the natural habitat of the fighting bull is recreated, offering didactic information about the cattle ranches in Spain and, in particular, in the province of Malaga.
Fashion, Cinema and Bullfighting: This room highlights the relationship between bullfighting and the world of fashion and cinema, showing how bullfighting has influenced these cultural industries.
In addition to the thematic rooms, CEIT offers.
3D projections: Recreations of historical events and iconic moments of bullfighting.
Virtual Reality Simulators: Allow visitors to experience the sensation of being a bullfighter in the Plaza de La Malagueta.
Recreations of Emblematic Spaces: Visits to areas such as the infirmary and the bullpens, offering a detailed view of the internal dynamics of a bullring.
