La Malagueta Tour, the cultural and tourism project developed in the Plaza de Toros de La Malagueta, has been recognized with the Award for Best Tourism Initiative in the Tourism Awards City of Malaga 2026, awarded by the City of Malaga.

This award represents an important institutional support to an experience that, in just over a year since its inauguration, has established itself as one of the most original and attractive cultural proposals in Malaga.

A recognition of cultural and innovative tourism in Malaga

The City of Malaga Tourism Awards 2026 recognize initiatives, companies and projects that contribute to the positioning of Malaga as a tourist destination of national and international reference.

In this edition, Toroshopping / La Malagueta Tour has been distinguished for its contribution to cultural, experiential and innovative tourism, thanks to a visit concept that combines historical heritage, new technologies, audiovisual content and immersive museography.

The project takes place in one of the most emblematic buildings of the city: the Plaza de Toros de La Malagueta, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and considered one of the great architectural and cultural symbols of Malaga.

La Malagueta Tour: a new way to discover the Bullring

La Malagueta Tour opened its doors in March 2025 as a tourist and cultural experience promoted by the Provincial Council of Malaga. Since then, the space has offered locals and visitors a different way to learn about the history, architecture and cultural dimension of this monument.

The visit allows visitors to tour the usually unknown areas of the bullring, discover historical exhibits, enjoy immersive content and approach the bullfighting heritage from a current, informative and accessible perspective for all audiences.

Highlights of the experience include:

  • Tour of emblematic areas of the Plaza de Toros de La Malagueta.
  • Immersive museum with audiovisual content.
  • Interactive and sensory experiences.
  • Virtual reality and technological resources.
  • Historical, architectural and cultural explanation of the site.

This approach has made it possible to transform the visit to the plaza into a complete experience, designed for international tourists as well as for national and local visitors.

More than 80,000 visitors and international presence

Since its inauguration, La Malagueta Tour has received more than 80,000 visitors from over 100 countries, a figure that reflects the great interest aroused by this new cultural proposal on the Costa del Sol.

The main nationalities of visitors include tourists from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the United States, Italy, the Netherlands and the Nordic countries, in addition to a significant increase in domestic tourism.

These data confirm the potential of La Malagueta as a first class tourist resource and reinforce the role of Malaga as an open, cultural city, connected with international visitors.

An experience highly valued by visitors

One of the most relevant aspects of the project is the excellent reception from the public. Since its opening, La Malagueta Tour has received very positive ratings on international tourism platforms, where visitors especially highlight the originality of the tour, the quality of the immersive experience, the attention of the team and the cultural value of the visit.

This recognition by users has been key to consolidate the tour as one of the recommended activities for those looking for things to do in Malaga beyond the traditional tourist circuits.

Toroshopping, a company with experience in bullfighting and cultural tourism.

The award also recognizes the trajectory of Toroshopping, a company specialized in the management of cultural visits linked to the Spanish bullfighting and monumental heritage.

Since 2012, Toroshopping organizes tours to the Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas in Madrid, one of the most important bullrings in the world. In addition, since 2023, Toroshopping also develops the tours of the Plaza de Toros in Alicante.

With La Malagueta Tour, the company has transferred this experience to Malaga, betting on an innovative, accessible and adapted to the new forms of tourism consumption.

Malaga, a destination committed to authenticity

The recognition of La Malagueta Tour comes at a time when Malaga continues to strengthen its position as a cultural, urban and experiential destination.

The city combines heritage, gastronomy, museums, sea, tradition and modernity, and projects such as La Malagueta Tour contribute to diversify its tourist offer, offering experiences with their own identity and linked to local history.

In this context, the Plaza de Toros de La Malagueta is consolidated not only as a historic building, but also as a living space, capable of connecting with new audiences through culture, technology and dissemination.

An award for continued growth

From Toroshopping and La Malagueta Tour, this award is received as an impulse to continue working on the continuous improvement of the experience, visitor service and promotion of the cultural heritage of Malaga.

The company would like to give special thanks for the support of the Malaga Provincial Council, the Malaga City Council, the collaborating institutions, the project team and all the visitors who have been part of this first year of the tour.

The Award for Best Tourism Initiative at the Tourism Awards City of Malaga 2026 confirms that La Malagueta Tour has become a cultural proposal of reference within the tourist offer of the city.
