The Origins<\/span><\/span><\/div>

The Birth of the Malagueta<\/span><\/span><\/h2>

The La Malagueta Bullring is a unique landmark in M\u00e1laga, designated a Site of Cultural Interest in 1981<\/strong>. It <\/span>stands out for its neoclassical <\/span>architectural style and <\/span>its unusual 18-sided polygonal structure, built with brick and iron\u2014making it the first building in the city to use this material. Its arcades and ornamental details, such as the semicircular arches and clay roof tiles, lend it a classical elegance that stands out in the M\u00e1laga landscape. Construction began in 1874<\/strong> under the direction of architect Joaqu\u00edn Rucoba, and it was inaugurated on June 11, 1876. The inaugural bullfight featured the famous bullfighters Rafael Molina \u201cLagartijo,\u201d Antonio Carmona, Luque \u201cEl Gordito,\u201d and Manuel Rodr\u00edguez \u201cDesperdicios,\u201d who faced bulls from the Murube ranch. Today, La Malagueta, with a capacity of 9,032 spectators, hosts major bullfighting events, such as the Corrida Picassiana and the celebrations of the August Fair, as well as other cultural events, maintaining its significance as a historic landmark and point of interest in the city.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Ronda, cradle of the art of bullfighting<\/span><\/span><\/h2>

The Ronda school represents a fundamental milestone in the history of bullfighting due to the concept of bullfighting that was established in the 18th century by the bullfighter Pedro Romero, a fundamental pillar in the history of bullfighting. With him, the technique of bullfighting was profoundly developed, especially the “suerte de matar”, which in Ronda was characterized by its speed and austerity. Romero turned the confrontation into an art where sobriety and efficiency are essential to dominate the bull. This Ronda conception of bullfighting, focused on precision, consolidated Ronda as one of the great references in the art of bullfighting, together with Seville. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

Near Ronda, in Malaga, bullfighting also consolidated its presence from the fifteenth century. After the capture of Granada in 1492, bullfighting festivities were held in the Plaza de la Constituci\u00f3n, where barriers were installed in the streets to allow bullfighting. Throughout its history, Malaga has had several removable enclosures, such as the Plaza de la Pescader\u00eda, the Plaza del Carmen, the Plaza de Toros Vieja or the Plaza de \u00c1lvarez en el Molinillo. These celebrations, together with the development of new bullfighting venues, consolidated Malaga as a relevant center for bullfighting, where bullfights were not only entertainment, but a fundamental component of the social and cultural life of the city. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>
